Helen Su- Promptless writing
K-pop stands for Korean pop culture. Korean pop culture includes gossip and information about dramas, actions, idols, singers, and comedians. I became interested in K-pop when a group called super Junior came to Taiwan and news about them were plastered everywhere. I started getting curious about them and went online to search for Super Junior. After getting to know them more, I started obsessing over them, and soon started to notice many other Korean celebrities. Korean idol groups consist of handsome guys or pretty girls. Different idol groups focus on different music genres; most focus on fast pop songs, but there are also groups who are good at ballads. Idol groups first catch people’s attention by their looks. If the group has talent and is unique from different groups, they will be recognized by more people and will soon earn a large fan base. I am a fan of many Korean celebs, but I’m not the only one obsessing over Korean celebrates and some fans are even more obsessed than I am. Whenever I start watching performances by the Korean celebrities I adore/admire, I just stare and fall into my own little world during those three or four lovely minutes. It’s a habit or routine for me to check news about Korean entertainment every day. Staring at hot guys/girls, forgeting everything else, and focusing on their oozing charisma on stage is my way of relaxing from the stressful things in life. Also, watching Korean dramas is also a good time waster. I especially like dramas that make me cry. Don’t ask me why I like to watch movies/dramas that make me cry; maybe I just like to torture myself by bawling until my eyes are red and puffy. No, I’m not sadistic, I just like having a reasonable reason to cry and let out my pent up emotions. Over all, anything related to Korean entertainment grabs my attention, especially if the celebrities are handsome and hot. In conclusion, as long as the guys are hot/handsome/cute, i'll stare at them from my computer and drift off into lala land. Hey, which girl wouldn’t want to stare at hot celebrities? Right?

ReplyDeleteHello, Helen,
My favorite line is "as long as the guys are hot/handsome/cute, i'll stare at them from my computer and drift off into lala land." Especially "lala land". It sounds so cute. Totally agree w/ this sentence. Also! Maybe u can put the "I’m not sadistic" part in a parenthesis because that way, you get a more specific focus on ur topic..I dont know, just suggestion. But overall, I think the way you state the definition of K-pop and then bring it into you argument is a good choice, that way, the readers can easily understand what u r talking abt...Because we all know that you are falling for Hero ^_^ Nice~

ReplyDeleteHI sweety~ You know that i totaly agree with you right?! I love your promtless essay because i'm a fan of K-pop too!XP
I really felt that you touch my heart when you said "Korean idol groups consist of handsome guys or pretty girls" and I also check news eveyday too~
For suggestions...i would probably change: "I am a fan of many Korean celebs, but I’m not the only one obsessing over Korean celebrates and some fans are even more obsessed than I am." to: "I am defineltey not the only one obsessed in K-pop, crazy fans are a lot worse!" shows more emotions like this and lot shorter XD Other than that, I LOVE your essay~ I'm sooo in love with Hero too~ hehe
i totally agree with you when u said"which girl wouldn’t want to stare at hot celebrities? Right? " of course every girl would want to stare at hot celebrities! or else would we stare at ugly ones?
ReplyDeleteI like this topic that you picked, because im obsessed with korean pop stars too! So overall, i completely agree with you but you can be more focused on one topic since korean pop culture is a very broad topic.

ReplyDeleteFavorite Line: "Whenever I start watching performances by the Korean celebrities I adore/admire, I just stare and fall into my own little world during those three or four lovely minutes."
I like this sentence because it really shows how interested and obsessed she is in Koreans.
Improvement: "I am a fan of many Korean celebs, but I’m not the only one obsessing over Korean celebrates and some fans are even more obsessed than I am."
How i would change it: I am a fan of man Korean Celebrities, but I'm not the only one. Some fans are even more crazy and obsessed about them.
I think you should write celebrity instead of "celebs" because its kinda of a slang. :D
Comments: I liked your essay! It really shows how much you like Korean Entertainment and how much you enjoy looking at hot Korean celebrities! :D
Hey Helen~!
ReplyDeleteI love your essay and i totally agree with your opinion too, Korean celebrities are really good looking :) DBSK! HERO! lol
I really agree and love this sentence of yours: "Whenever I start watching performances by the Korean celebrities I adore/admire, I just stare and fall into my own little world during those three or four lovely minutes." I was like that too, i know what you feel and what you are going through!
I also love this sentence: Don’t ask me why I like to watch movies/dramas that make me cry; maybe I just like to torture myself by bawling until my eyes are red and puffy." This is a really good way of saying your situation with humor lol :) i love it!
I think what i can suggest you about your essay is, maybe sometimes you can put some dialogue or something in your essay, even though its really good already :)
well, yea i love this one! Good job, Helen!
