  8. "I embrace carrying the torch for African-Americans. Really the tough part has been done. There's people who really suffered through this process that really don't even know anything about football, just so I'd have an opportunity to be where I am right now. And really for me, it's just to be successful and just show people that African-Americans or minorities in general, if you have the skill set and you're given the opportunity, you can get the job done," said Reese.

Stanleys comic and mine are kind of similar, they are both about getting a job and being what they want to be. I like your comic because it is very interesting
    Sandra:
In her comic, the people have given up on the american dream which is different from mine since mine is accepting and wishing for a greater future with the American Dream. I like your comic because it shows the bad side of the american dream

  14. The American dream to me means that you have the ability to determine where you're going. You have the ability to formulate your dream, and you have the ability to put in motion all the building blocks that will help you to achieve it. And I am so grateful that I was born in America because I've had the opportunity to travel throughout the world, and I must say sometimes it's exciting to go to Paris, or go to Egypt or to go anywhere else, China. But, there's no place like home, and there's no place that really affords you the same types of opportunities that we have. And it's just a matter of how hard we want to work, and I would go so far as to say, in America, you can take somebody who is very successful, who has the right mind set, and you can take everything away from him and put him on the street and make him be a bum, and they'll be right back up there in a couple of years because all it requires is the right mind set and the willingness to work. And, people who realize that are already halfway there, to realizing their American dream.
    -Benjamin Carson
This is talking about the American Dream and what it does to people.

  15. Daisy Huang, your example of the American Dream is about racial equality and having every race having equal opportunities; however, my example shows the American Dream for people as a whole and what everyone wants to achieve.

The cartoon is really interesting. It shows how people want to succeed in life, but it is difficult to achieve. This cartoon illustrates that part of the American Dream is to have good job opportunities.

  22. “Now, I say to you today my friends, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: / we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

    ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
This quote shows that King wants everyone to be equal and have the freedom to pursuit happiness. Everyone should have the right to choose what they want for themselves and to achieve their goals.

  23. Jasmine: I like your picture for the property one. It shows how all Americans' want to have property as the American Dream. The picture itself can be seen as a very happy environment.

Sandra: Your cartoon is very tragic and interesting. But at the same time it tells us that the American Dream can be changed by a lot of things like taxes.
