Chinese New Years
Every culture in the world contains a special holiday, for Chinese people, it is arguably the New Year Holiday. On every January or February, there would be a large get together, a very big event in our family tradition. Upon the start of this fun and wondrous holiday would be fun and games. Chinese New Year is the only time when we, the children, who are under 18, get to play Mahjong, a form of Chinese gambling. Although I personally do not play this type of board game, it is still fairly entertaining to watch my sisters shuffle the blocks of different symbols around and occasionally win a few NT dollars here and there. Before dinner, since my grandparents are Daoist, we would worship the Gods with incents, and ask them for whatever thing we need and wish them a happy new year. A very important color to wear on New Year’s is red; which is an important Chinese color to symbolize luck and prosperity. After the worshiping, we would go to a large dinner where many different types of fruits, vegetables, and meats are served. Through the above are exciting, what I am always looking forward each year is the red envelope. Inside these envelops contain different large sums of money, giving me more fiscal spending and storing. After retrieving my loot, we head back to our homes in joy and celebration spirit; for, in my opinion, no other holiday comes remotely close to beating this fun filled holiday.

I agree with you on thatXD
Maybe you can tell us what the grownups are doing when you're having all the fun.
Great essay! I also love Chinese New Years.

"Get together" to "Get-together"? (I'm not sure, sorry).
"Through the above are exciting, what I am always looking forward each year is the red envelope."
You just proved the point of your essay right there. ;)
Very interesting and quite true. I like the Chinese New Year a lot too. Just like you, especially when it comes to receiving the red envelopes, though sometimes the situation can be a little awkward. :D
"After retrieving my loot" I love the way you say that the money you get for the red envople "loot". It makes me think that what I do and think about Chinnese new years. great essay!
