promptless writing (the weather) Jerry Tarn 10A
my brother, who goes to college in the states, always asks, "hows the weather?" when we chat on skype. In response, I always say "fine" or "ok". I rarely describe the weather as "great", because Taiwan's weather doesn't go according to my weather preferences. I like it when the day consists of a weather of partly chilly, but with clear skys and a shining sun. Its cold enough to wear a sweater, but when the sun comes out of hiding from the clouds, I can feel it's warm rays. On those days, no matter how moody I get, I instantly cheer up. I guess I grew a liking towards this kind of weather because of my childhood. When I was still a kid, I lived in San Jose, California. California is usually sunny all year round, thats why its named, "The Sunshine State" And with the bay area breezes, the climate creates my favorite weather. I would come back from school everyday and take a stroll around the neighborhood. The sun would still be shining and every once in a while, a breeze would come and pay me a visit. Sometimes these kind of walks would take up to an hour, and my parents would even become concerned of my absence. However, when I moved back to Taiwan, these kind of aesthetic experiences had become a rare thing. Taiwan is either really hot and humid, or cold and wet. Sometimes, during winter, the climate would stop being so stubborn and my "perfect" weather would appear. And then I would open the windows and stare out into the open for a long time. If I were outside, I would just find a bench to sit down on and just enjoy the breeze and sunshine. Rarely does my favorite weather ever occur, thats why it is so special. I've always learned to appreciate it.

I like the sentence: "The sun would still be shining and every once in a while, a breeze would come and pay me a visit," because i like the personification you used in this sentence. I think you can improve on this sentence:" like it when the day consists of a weather of partly chilly, but with clear skys and a shining sun. Its cold enough to wear a sweater, but when the sun comes out of hiding from the clouds, I can feel it's warm rays." I think it would be the sentence would be more smooth if you added these to sentenced together. Overall, i like your essay because it also explains what i feel about Taiwan's weather, and how much i miss and love California's weather.
Jerry even though why favorite weather is very different than your. i had a great time reading your essay. my brother, who goes to college in the states, always asks, "hows the weather?" when we chat on skype. "In response, I always say "fine" or "ok". I rarely describe the weather as "great"...." makes me think about myself even though we may not have the same reason of saying it, but every time some one askes me if I had a good day in school or how's life i always answer fine. So it makes me think why i answer like that.

I think a lot of people mentioned this already but I really like the part "The sun would still be shining and every once in a while, a breeze would come and pay me a visit."
This is something all of us can relate to because I seriously agree with you on how disgusting the weather here in Taiwan is... and I'm sure a lot of other people do too :P
anyway, great essay :)
